Unlike other inexpensive ringlight models, the light is very bright but softened enough so that you don't get the telltale circle of bright reflections. Be advised that this is NOT A RING FLASH but a ringlight. I actually prefer it being a light rather than a flash. It seems to provide a good range of light from very closeup to more than a couple of feet. For macro work it is very helpful!
