(More customer reviews)I expect that the camera armor is precisely fitted for the D40. Th fit on the D3000 leaves something to be desired. Specifically the molding in the armor for the buttons to the right of the LCD aren't in the right place for the D3000 (they are too close to the screen opening) and don't line up with the actual buttons; this makes using them with the armor on kind of difficult. Since the armor fits so tightly ... this is a problem if you want to navigate menus , change settings or delete photos. Another shortcoming on fit is the openings for the mode and command dials are a little too small making the dials hard to turn. The last issue i have is i suspect an issue regardless of the camera that this is used on - the lens guard needs to be slid up onto the "zoom collar" if it's being used on an auto-focusing lens, otherwise it will wiggle off as the auto focus moves the inner sleeve in and out (and this takes some work to do). Other than that the product is pretty thick and likely provides adequate protection for the cost( I hope I never discover that I'm wrong :).
