(More customer reviews)I've been intrigued by IR photos that I've seen online, so decided to give it a try. But I didn't want to spend lots of money on the experiment, so I bought this 52mm filter, as well as an adapter for my 7-year-old Minolta Z1 point and shoot. I figured since it's the oldest camera I have, it would have the weakest onboard IR filter. So, I got it and tried it and was totally impressed by the images. I then decided to try it on my Olympus E620 DSLR and that too gave very cool looking images, except that light got into the viewfinder so caused the center to look "blown out." Easy to rectify with the viewfinder cover that I've not had a reason to use. I also tried it with my E510 which was much more sensitive to IR than the E620. Unfortunately, I only have one SLR lens that takes 52mm filters and that's the Zuiko 50mm f/2.0 telephoto/macro, not the greatest landscape lens, though it is my fastest. After I get done posting this review, I'm going to see if this vendor has a 72mm IR filter to use with the Zuiko 12-60mm lens. I'll post a coupe of images, one from the Minolta Z1, and the other from the E620 (with blown out center).

Use for photography with infrared films. Infrared film is also sensitive to ultraviolet rays and the shorter wavelengths of the visible spectrum so it is necessary to filter out all but the infrared rays.IR720 passes only infrared rays above 720nm.Infrared filters, often used in crime detection, medical photography, detection of distribution of vegetation, etc, can also be used for creative and artistic photography!
